HUMPHREY, NE – Nebraska non-profit organization Ne Farmtok announced last month they are planning a second hay convoy that is intended for the Ashby area that was impacted by wildfires.
The Ashby Fire ignited overnight Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, and wasn’t 100 percent contained until April 2nd, 2026. The fire burned 36,004 acres.
Ne Farmtok President Cyndi Schure of Humphrey says she was coordinating with people back in March who are in need of hay in the Ashby area.
Ne Farmtok’s first convoy that took place the last full week of March, consisted of 9 drivers; 8,136 miles driven; 399 bales delivered; and $5,760.17 in donations to pay for fuel.
Schure talks about what the process was to get the convoy put together.
Schure says hay donations have come from as close as the surrounding area, and as far as southwest Illinois.
Ne Farmtok is taking donations for this second convoy to help offset the cost of fuel for the drivers.

Ne Farmtok also has their 6th Annual Golf Tournament on July 11th at the Steepleview Golf Course in Humphrey.
Schure says each year, the organization chooses someone to benefit from the proceeds.
After the golf tournament, there will be live and silent auctions, a free will donation supper, and entertainment at the Humphrey Community Center.
