Bellevue, Neb. — Eaton Corp. plans to invest over $30 million in a new manufacturing facility in Bellevue, Nebraska, to increase production of medium-voltage switchgear used in data centers, utilities and industrial power systems, according to a news release.
The 370,000-square-foot facility near Omaha is expected to begin production in the first half of 2027 and create more than 200 engineering, manufacturing and production jobs. Hiring for these positions is expected to start later this year.
The facility will produce air-insulated and gas-insulated switchgear, equipment used to protect, control and isolate electrical equipment in power generation and distribution systems. The switchgear can be integrated into Eaton’s prefabricated power systems.
The company cited nearly 3,000 new data centers planned or under construction in the U.S. as a driver for the expansion. The U.S. switchgear market is projected to grow from $17.8 billion in 2024 to $31.8 billion by 2034, according to the release.
The new facility will be located six miles from Eaton’s current Omaha site. Existing employees will transition to the new location over time.
The Kearney Eaton plant shut down its engine valve manufacturing division in 2025, resulting in the layoff of approximately 200 workers.
