Election Day for the primary election in the state of Nebraska is coming up on May 12th, and one of the spots that people will have the opportunity to vote on will be the role of Gosper County Sheriff.
Joshua Richie is one of the republican candidates, and is the current Sheriff in Gosper County. Richie served in the United States Military for almost 10 years before moving to be in the workforce in Nebraska. He has worked in the Cozad Police Department and been a deputy in Gosper County before taking over as Sheriff in October of 2024.
Craig Ward is also a republican candidate, who has served in Gosper County. Ward became a certified officer in 1994 and worked in Cozad before working for 12 years in Gosper County. 10 of those years has been in a supervisor or a mangament role. Ward was also appointed as Sheriff of Gosper County in February of 2022 to fill the unexpired term of retiring Sheriff Dennis Ocken.
