KEARNEY — Emergency crews responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday afternoon after a semi hauling a single-wide mobile home caught fire along West 24th Street.
The incident was reported shortly after 1 p.m. near the intersection of West 24th Street and Country Club Lane. When firefighters arrived, the semi had stopped in the westbound lane while flames were concentrated on the portion of the trailer closest to the truck.
Crews from the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department worked to contain the fire, focusing efforts beneath and around the front section of the mobile home.
Kearney Police assisted at the scene by directing traffic, with westbound vehicles diverted to the outside lane to move past the area.
Authorities say the fire was caused by a mechanical issue with the truck. No injuries were reported.
