One person was arrested Thursday, April 9th, 2026, following a two-vehicle head-on accident in Red Willow County that occurred just before 2:30pm between mile markers 108 and 109 on the Grand Army of the Republic Highway.
Red Willow County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene. All individuals involved in the accident declined emergency medical services.
Deputies determined one of the drivers, 37-year-old Anna Trumble of Cambridge, showed signs of alcohol impairment. Trumble was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Red Willow County Correction Center on charges of refusal of a chemical test (DUI), possession/consumption of an open alcohol container, violation of hand-held wireless communication device laws, and no operator’s license in possession.
Red Willow County Sheriff’s deputies conducted the investigation. Bartley Fire and Rescue, Cambridge Fire Department and Cambridge EMS Rescue Services also responded to the scene.
The Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to never drive under the influence and to always follow Nebraska traffic laws to ensure the safety of all motorists. A distracted driver under the influence of alcohol poses a serious danger to everyone on the road.
