KEARNEY – Redshirt senior Lily Novacek continues to put together a historic Loper career, after having the second best throw in Division 2 history in the hammer this past Thursday at the Jo Meaker Classic in Texas.
Novacek, last year’s national champion in the hammer, had a throw of 66.44 meters, and only trails Central Missouri’s Heavin Warner who set the record in 2016 with a throw of 69.33 meters. Novacek currently leads Division 2 in the event by nearly eight feet. She was named as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division 2 women’s athlete of the week and the MIAA women’s field athlete of the week after her performance. Novacek and the rest of the Lopers have their home Loper Invitational this weekend.
