A former High Plains Community School employee accused in a child porn case has taken a plea deal.
Merrick County District Court records show 29-year-old Jonathon Scheerer-Hamm was facing 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
But court documents say a plea deal was reached, where he pled no contest to one count of Possession of Child Pornography and a reduced charge of 2nd-Degree Sexual Abuse by a School Employee.
All other counts were dropped in exchange.
During a court hearing on Monday, the judge in the case accepted the plea and found Scheerer-Hamm guilty.
Court records say he is scheduled to be sentenced on June 22nd at 10:00 a.m.
Authorities say Scheerer-Hamm was arrested in May last year following an investigation into an alleged relationship between him and an underaged student.
An arrest affidavit says it was determined there were at least 493 separate files containing child porn on his cell phone.
Scheerer-Hamm was formally a paraeducator at High Plains Community School.
He also served as the head coach for the high school boy’s basketball team prior to his arrest.
