Lexington, Neb. — National Library Week is being celebrated through April 25, with the theme “Find Your Joy,” highlighting the role of libraries in fostering community connection and lifelong learning.
Local libraries across Nebraska, such as in Grand Island, feature special events including, makerspaces, author talks, and activities.
Omaha Public Library has even more to celebrate. The new Central Library at 72nd and Dodge celebrated its grand opening on April 19.
Libraries statewide are encouraging patronage via digital resources and local activities.
First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April.
The 2026 celebration marks the 68th anniversary of the first event.
