GRAND ISLAND — Area athletes delivered a strong slate of performances Monday at the Nebraska Track Championships at Grand Island Northwest High School, with multiple top-six finishes and personal-best efforts across both divisions.
On the boys side, Arcadia-Loup City senior Tyce Calleroz led the way in the sprints, placing fourth in the 100 meters with a personal-best 10.96 seconds and sixth in the 200 at 22.73. The Rebels also saw success in the relays, finishing fifth in the 4×400 (3:36.06) and sixth in the 4×800 (9:00.32), while sophomore Dutch Miller added a fourth-place finish in the 3200 meters in 10:25.49.
Ravenna’s Jack Kucera turned in a standout hurdles performance, placing third in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best 15.75 and finishing second in the 300 hurdles at 41.81. Teammate Tyce Coufal took fourth in the 300 hurdles, while Twin Loup’s Emmet Grint placed sixth in the same race.
In the field events, Ravenna’s Mannox Martin delivered one of the top performances of the meet, winning the shot put with a personal-best throw of 62 feet and finishing second in the discus at 175-1. Broken Bow’s Andrew Ellis also reached the podium in both throws, placing fourth in the shot put (51-11.75) and sixth in the discus (154-11), with teammate Gunner Baltz finishing seventh in discus at 153-11.
Central Valley’s Zevan Wolf cleared 6-3 to finish second in the high jump, while Centura’s Wyatt Dvorak placed fourth in the long jump with a personal-best 20-8.75. Dvorak also added an eighth-place finish in the pole vault.
On the girls side, Central Valley’s Taylor McIntyre put together a dominant day, winning both the 100 meters (11.85, personal best) and 200 meters (25.02). She also placed second in the long jump (17-8) and third in the triple jump (36-11).
Burwell’s Addie Critel posted a pair of fourth-place finishes in the distance races, running 2:25.31 in the 800 and a personal-best 5:29.62 in the 1600. Teammate Mieke van der Walt added a sixth-place finish in the 400 (1:01.74, personal best) and placed fourth in the 100 hurdles.
Broken Bow’s girls placed fifth in the 4×800 relay (10:23.99), while Halle Quinn added an eighth-place finish in the 800. In the pole vault, Charlee Myers and McKenna Jacobsen placed sixth and eighth, respectively.
Centura’s 4×100 relay team finished fifth in 50.92, and Lauren Suntych added a fourth-place finish in the pole vault. Arcadia-Loup City’s Rylee Kursave placed seventh in the discus.
The meet featured a high level of competition, with several area athletes recording personal-best marks as the postseason stretch continues.
