GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A Michigan man who worked as a carnival employee during the Nebraska State Fair has been sentenced to prison in a case involving online enticement.
According to court documents, 47-year-old Todd Brown of Kalamazoo was sentenced April 30 to two years behind bars, followed by one year of probation. Brown entered a no contest plea and was convicted in March on a charge of enticement using an electronic device.
Investigators said the case began in August when Brown initiated contact on social media with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl. Authorities say the conversation turned explicit, with Brown referencing specific sexual acts. He was taken into custody during the Nebraska State Fair after arranging to meet the individual.
Brown initially faced a charge of using an electronic device to commit sexual assault, but that count was reduced as part of a plea agreement.
Fair officials confirmed Brown was employed as a contract worker for Wade Shows Carnival. A spokesperson added that no fair attendees were involved in the incident.
