Custer County Salvation Army presented checks totaling $7,250 for food pantries, swimming lessons and meals for senior citizens at their meeting on May 4.
Checks for $750 each went to Ansley, Arnold and Sargent food pantries.
Prairie Pioneer Center received $2,000 to help with meals that are delivered to senior citizens recovering from hospital stays.
And checks for $750 each were awarded to the communities of Ansley, Arnold, Broken Bow and Callaway for their summer swimming lesson programs.
Also at Monday’s meeting, Palmer Lomax American Legion Auxiliary Unit 126 of Broken Bow presented a $250 donation to the Salvation Army for their Back-to-School Backpack and School Supplies Giveaway. Broken Bow’s unit made the $250 donation to celebrate the American Legion Auxiliary’s 250th year.
