Lexington, Neb. — The grand opening of a Global Roots Community Garden in Lexington is set for Friday, May 8.
The event will be held at 801 north Lincoln St. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Global Roots is a farming program organized by Lutheran Family Services (LFS) that supports refugees and new populations.
Since 2020, the program has provided space to help farmers grow their cultural food, with the goal of achieving food security.
Program organizers say the event is free to the public and features light refreshments, community resources, and family friendly activities.
Lutheran Family Services also encourages community partners (or volunteers) to participate by hosting information tables, sharing resources and helping create a welcoming space.
