GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A Grand Island man is facing several felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly attempting to flee from officers during a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle driven by Alex Torres near North Adams Street and West Sixth Street at approximately 3:21 p.m. on May 5.
Grand Island Police Division Chief Dean Elliott said officers discovered nine THC vape pens inside the vehicle during the stop.
Police said Torres attempted to run when officers moved to place him under arrest. Authorities also alleged that he threw multiple items in different directions while trying to flee.
Torres was taken into custody and booked on charges that include felony possession with intent to deliver marijuana near a school, felony tampering with physical evidence, felony obstructing a police officer, misdemeanor resisting arrest, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and a traffic infraction for failure to signal.
