Omaha-Lexington’s path through the postseason continued on Saturday night with an impressive 2-0 over the defending state champion Schuyler Warriors. Lexington became the first team to shut the Warriors out all season long. Offensively Lexington was awarded a penalty kick in the 22nd minute as Davis Garcia connected to give the MInutemen a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, Jose Navarrete scored off of a deflection to push the lead to 2-0 early on in the second half as Lexington moved into the state championship match for the fourth time since 2021. Lexington is now 15-5 on the season and has given up just one goal in the post season. Schuyler ends the year at 18-2. Lexington will take on Gretna who was 2-1 winner over Elkhorn North on Saturday.
Lexington lost to Gretna in the opening weekend of the season. The state final has now been pushed back a day and will start at 4:30pm on Wednesday and it can be heard on KAMI Country and at krvn.com.
