St. Libory, Neb. — A huge tornado churned through farmland near Saint Libory on Sunday as severe storms swept across central parts of the state. The twister moved across open fields amid tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings.
The National Weather Service warned of dangerous conditions including baseball-sized hail and wind gusts reaching 70 mph as storms intensified across the region.
Two homes near St. Libory sustained heavy damage from a tornado that passed through the area early Sunday evening. The tornado was confirmed around 5:30 p.m. KSNB reports the houses were located near Seventh and Denton Road north of St. Libory. No injuries were reported.
A few strong to severe storms will be possible again this afternoon for areas mainly south and east of the Tri-cities.
Storms will begin to develop between 3-6PM with the final storms clearing out of the area around 9PM. The strongest of storms may carry large hail up to the size of golf balls, wind gusts up to near 60 MPH or even an isolated tornado.
