ARNOLD, Neb. — Residents in Arnold and surrounding communities will have an opportunity to dispose of scrap tires later this month as the Village of Arnold hosts a regional tire cleanup event through the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment’s Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grant Program.
The Arnold collection site, serving Blaine, Custer, and Logan counties, is approved to collect up to 150 tons of scrap tires and will operate May 28 through May 30 at Old Mill Park in the 300 block of South Broadway.
Arnold’s event is one of several tire collection efforts planned across central Nebraska this year through state grant funding aimed at reducing waste and encouraging recycling.
Other central Nebraska collection locations include:
- North Platte (Lincoln County) — 250 tons approved. Event date is still to be determined.
- Cozad (Dawson County) — 150 tons approved. Collection was held March 20-21.
- Madrid (Perkins County) — 150 tons approved. Collection took place April 7-10.
- Bartley (Red Willow County ZIP area 69020) — 700 tons approved. Collection was May 1-2.
- Hitchcock County (Trenton) — 150 tons approved with collection scheduled Aug. 21-22.
- Hershey (ZIP code 69143) — 150 tons approved. Collection was held April 18-19.
According to the state program, 35 cleanup events across Nebraska counties received funding this year. The effort could result in nearly 7,930 tons of scrap tires being collected statewide.
Arnold area residents in Blaine, Custer, and Logan counties planning to participate can bring eligible tires to Old Mill Park during the May 28-30 collection period.
