OCONTO, NE – The Blowin’ the Doors Off BBQ in Oconto is Saturday, June 6th with gates open at 5pm with all-you-can-eat barbeque, live entertainment, and raffle drawings – all to benefit the Oconto Volunteer Fire Department.
This year, as a Thank You for all the help with recent wildfires, first responders get in for free.
Longtime department member and one of the BBQ event organizers, Neil Hendricks tells the story of how the event got its name.
Live entertainment for this year’s event is South Loup Sunrise from 5pm to 8pm, with Blacktop Pony taking the stage at 8pm.
This year’s raffle drawing items include: a grill, Henry Golden Boy 22 Rifle, and gift certificates.
Tickets can be purchased ahead of time for $20 by scanning the QR code on the event flyer on the Blowin’ the Doors Off BBQ Facebook page, or at the gate for $25. Children ages 5-12 get in for $10.
