CUSTER COUNTY – The Custer County Sheriff’s Office and Broken Bow Police Department are investigating ATM thefts that occurred May 27, 2026, in Custer County. The Broken Bow Chief of Police Chris Anderson, said unknown suspects stole approximately $15,000 from a Flatwater Bank ATM and attempted, but failed, to gain access to a second ATM in the community.
The Broken Bow thefts are part of a broader investigation involving a similar incident in Ansley during the early morning hours of May 27, 2026. In that case, Custer County Sheriff, Dan Osmond said approximately $9,500 was stolen from the Flatwater Bank ATM in Ansley.
At this time, law enforcement officials, believe the two incidents are connected based on evidence collected in both cases.
Authorities have identified a suspect vehicle as a white Jeep Commander believed to be a 2006 to 2010 model. Investigators are working to identify both the vehicle and any individuals involved in the thefts.
