KEARNEY — A deer caused some unexpected damage at a downtown Kearney business late Friday night.
According to surveillance footage shared by Un:Inebriated, a deer ran into the glass front door of the store around 10:39 p.m. on May 29, shattering the glass.
The business, which specializes in non-alcoholic beverages, later posted the video online after first challenging followers to guess what had caused the damage. Customers were shown a photo of the broken door and offered a free “Mix Six” pack if they correctly identified the culprit.
After the footage was released, the video quickly attracted attention online, drawing more than 30,000 views.
Store owners took the incident in stride, joking that the deer may have been trying to get its hooves on one of the shop’s new Dirty Mushroom Sodas after hours.
The unusual encounter also inspired a fundraiser of sorts. Un:Inebriated created a limited-edition “Deer Repair Fund” sticker featuring a buck and shattered glass to help cover the cost of fixing the door.
“Help keep the deer outside and customers inside,” the business wrote in a social media post promoting the sticker.
