GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island man has been charged in Hall County Court after police say a confrontation at Pioneer Park escalated into threats and BB gunfire.
Joshua Lindteigen, 32, is charged with felony terroristic threats, felony use of a pellet gun to commit a felony, felony distribution of marijuana, felony no drug tax stamp, and two misdemeanor counts of child abuse.
Bond was set at $250,000. Lindteigen is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. July 7.
According to court documents, officers were called to Pioneer Park around 11:01 a.m. June 12 after two people reported being shot at near the park’s fountain. Police said the victims, a 58-year-old woman in a wheelchair and a 47-year-old man, were seated in the park when a woman and a man approached them from a vehicle parked east of the area.
Investigators said two young children, ages 2 and 6, were inside the vehicle during the incident.
Police allege the man, later identified as Lindteigen, returned to the vehicle during the encounter, then came back and threatened to assault the two victims. Authorities say he later returned with what was determined to be a BB gun and fired about six rounds in their direction.
The female victim told officers she believed the gun was real. Court documents also allege Lindteigen warned the victims that “next time it will be real bullets.”
The woman who was with Lindteigen was identified in the probable cause statement as Christina Lindteigen.
Police said Lindteigen later admitted to using a BB gun. During the investigation, officers also reported finding marijuana, a large amount of drug paraphernalia, and items commonly associated with distribution, including scales and baggies.
Lindteigen was arrested and taken to the Hall County Corrections Department.
