Grand Island is being recognized on the national stage after being named one of just 20 finalists nationwide for the 2026 All-America City Award. Presented by the National Civic League, the award honors communities that bring together residents, businesses, nonprofits and local government to solve challenges and improve quality of life. This year’s competition focused on strengthening civic health and building trust, with Grand Island advancing through a competitive selection process before presenting its story to civic leaders from across the country at a national conference in Denver.
While Grand Island was not selected among the 10 final winners, local leaders say the finalist designation highlights years of collaboration and community investment. Representatives from Grow Grand Island, Grand Island Tourism, Stuhr Museum and the Grand Island Police Department praised the recognition as a reflection of the city’s partnerships, resilience and commitment to civic engagement. The All-America City Award is considered one of the nation’s most prestigious civic honors, and Grand Island’s appearance among this year’s finalists adds to a legacy that includes a state-record four All-America City titles.
