FUNK, NE – This Sunday, July 12, 2026, any professional, amateur or talented kid bakers are invited to the Cupcake Capitol of Nebraska for the Funk Fesival of Cupcakes starting at 2pm.
Funk School Community Center hosts this annual competition with this year including over $1400 in prizes. Mona Peterson, the Funk School Community Center Board President, explains what it takes to earn the name Cupcake Capitol of Nebraska.
The Funk Festival of Cupcakes will be held at the center. Peterson says they will be taking baker entries right up until the start of the event on Sunday.
Peterson says each baker will also be in contention for best table display and people’s choice.
Each category’s top three winners will receive $50 first prize, $25 second prize, and $15 third prize at each level. The grand champion will also receive $250.
