COZAD, NE – The Dawson County Sheriff’s Foundation is in the early stages of establishment and has numerous events planned to start raising funds.
Dawson County Sheriff Office Sargent and foundation board member Adam Wackler talks about their mission.
Wackler adds they have a goal to start up two scholarships down the road for Dawson County youth.
Wackler says they want to largely target education and training for Dawson County first responders, and the foundation hopes to, one day, help provide a training facility for those agencies.
The foundation has numerous fundraising events planned, including their free will donation pancake feed this Sunday, July 19th in Cozad at the Grand Generation Center from 8am to 2pm.
The foundation will have a booth set up during the Dawson County Fair this week in the MRK Fun Zone. Wackler says they will have games and chances to buy raffle tickets for the foundation’s gun raffle. The gun is a lever action .17 Henry rifle.
Then on September 12th, 2026, they will have their golf tournament fundraiser at the Overton Golf Course. They have plans to draw the winner for the gun raffle at the finish of the golf tournament.
