A Lexington man convicted of Attempted 1st-Degree Sexual Assault has been sentenced.
Dawson County Court records show 26-year-old Elmer Galicia-Ruiz pled no contest to the charge last May and in exchange the count was reduced from 1st-Degree Sexual Assault and a count of Strangulation was dismissed.
On Tuesday, District Judge Chant Durham sentenced Galicia-Ruiz to 15-16 years in prison.
He was given credit for 289 days already served and will have to register as a sex offender for 25 years.
Court records outlining the case have been sealed, but court records do say the crime occurred in September last year.
