CUSTER COUNTY — Custer County 4-H members are already seeing months of hard work pay off as top honors have been awarded in the Fashion Show and 4-H/FFA Dog Show ahead of the start of the Custer County Fair next week.
Top Results: 4-H Fashion Show
The annual 4-H style judging and clothing judging were held July 16 at the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow. During the evening’s public fashion show, the top modeling 4-H members were selected to represent Custer County at the Nebraska State Fair Fashion Show on August 29, 2026.
Based on county enrollment in the clothing project, Custer County will send three models to compete at the state level.
In the senior division, Tristan Taylor earned Grand Champion honors and will represent the county at the State Fair, followed by LoReena Schauda, who received Reserve Champion and will represent the county on the state level, and Mercedes Bredthauer, who placed third also representing the county at the State Fair. The top two alternates are Raylee Bachman and Lillian VanZandt.
Along with the construction models, Kennedy Eggleston will represent the county at the Nebraska State Fair in the Shopping in Style category after earning Grand Champion honors during the county fashion show.
In the junior division, Cora Rosentrader, Lydia VanZandt, Maggie Sterner, and Remi Sterner each received Best of Show rosettes. Rosentrader was named Grand Champion, while VanZandt earned Reserve Champion.
The Burr Oak 4-H Club and Four Corners 4-H Club tied for the most purple ribbon awards for modeling. As a result, the clubs will decorate and select the theme for the 2027 Custer County 4-H fashion show. The club’s names also will be added to the recognition plaque displayed in the building.

The 4-H and FFA Dog Show followed on July 18, showcasing exhibitors’ training and handling skills in obedience, agility, rally and showmanship competitions.
Quinn Rosentrader and her dog, Saige, earned Best of Show in Obedience, while Cali Harris and her dog, Tucker, captured Best of Show honors in Showmanship, Agility and Rally.

Additional 4-H and FFA competitions will continue throughout the Custer County Fair next week, with livestock shows, static exhibit entries and photos of all placings during the 4-H fashion show and 4-H/FFA dog show.
