KEARNEY – The Viaero Center in Kearney will be home to an arena football team in 2027 as the Tri-City Horsemen will be competing in Central Nebraska.
The Horsemen were formally in Idaho before going dormant in the 2026 season to prepare for a new era. When they were active, they played in the National Arena League, which is the same league as the Omaha Beef. During their time in Idaho, the Horsemen won two American West Football Conference Titles.
Previous to the Horsemen, the Viaero Center has hosted two other indoor football teams, with the Tri-City Diesel playing there from 2001-2004; and the Kearney Hawks from 2016-2017.
The Horsemen will not be in the same league as Grand Island-based Nebraska Siege, who are in The Arena League. They have wrapped up their first regular season and host the St. Joseph (Mo.) Goats in the playoffs Saturday.
Visit Kearney says more information will be released later as the 2027 season takes shape.
