A massive fire at the Agri Star meat processing plant in Postville, Iowa, is raising concerns for the community, though officials say no injuries have been reported.
The fire began early Tuesday morning, drawing multiple fire departments to the scene. Authorities issued a smoke advisory, while the city asked residents to conserve water as firefighters battled the blaze.
It’s the third major incident at the facility in recent years, following a fire in May 2026 and an explosion in 2021. Agri Star is Postville’s largest employer, and state workforce officials are preparing to provide unemployment and layoff assistance for affected workers.
The company has not announced the extent of damage or a timeline for resuming operations.
