LEXINGTON – Parts of Central Nebraska saw damaging severe thunderstorms last night causing tree and property damage, power outages, and heavy amounts of rain in a short amount of time. Some areas saw golf ball size hail and strong wind gusts.
Parts of northern Lexington are experiencing power outages.
The National Weather Service is reporting wind gust recordings of up to 70+ mph.
- The highest right now we are seeing is 74mph in Callaway at 7:19pm
- Johnson Lake saw 70 mph gusts at 9:10pm
- Culbertson recorded 69mph at 8:49pm
- while the Lexington airport saw 63 mph wind gusts around 9:15pm, and just south of town saw a 70-mph wind gust about that same time.
Many areas saw anywhere from an inch and half or more of rain, with reports of almost 2 inches in Lexington.
NWS is also reporting a brief landspout north of Mullen yesterday at 4:33pm.
