HALL COUNTY, Neb. — Hall County authorities are warning residents about a phone scam in which callers disguise their numbers to make it appear that the call is coming from a county law enforcement office.
Officials say the scammers are posing as department employees and pressuring residents to make an immediate payment, often claiming the money is needed to post bond for someone being held in jail.
The public is reminded that legitimate Hall County personnel will not call residents and demand bond payments over the phone.
Anyone who receives such a call should not provide personal or financial information. Officials recommend ending the call and contacting the appropriate Hall County office using a phone number obtained from an official website or another trusted source.
Residents are also encouraged to report suspicious calls and share the warning with family members and others who could be targeted.
