KEARNEY — Families across Kearney will have several opportunities to meet local law enforcement officers and emergency responders during National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The community event will make stops at four city parks throughout the evening, offering residents a chance to speak with the people who serve the area in a relaxed and family-friendly environment.
Personnel from the Kearney Police Department, Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, Good Samaritan Emergency Medical Services, and several other organizations will take part.
The first events will take place from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. at both Valley View Park and West Lincoln Way Park. First responders will then visit Centennial Park from 7 to 8 p.m.
The evening will finish at Pioneer Park from 8 to 9 p.m., where an outdoor movie will be shown.
Activities, giveaways, and items donated by local businesses will be available throughout the night. Free popcorn will also be served, while A Scoops and Madi’s Ice Oasis will offer treats for purchase at Pioneer Park.
Those attending the movie are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.
National Night Out is an annual event held to strengthen relationships between residents, law enforcement, and other public safety agencies, while encouraging neighborhood involvement and community connection.
