LEXINGTON – Opening statements were made this morning, Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, in the murder trial of Aristh Rodriguez-Linares.
Assistant Attorney General Sandra Allen outlined the state’s case including text, autopsy report and DNA analysis.
She said 11 bullets were fired from a handgun into a vehicle occupied by Maykel Farinas Carballo. Carballo had been struck by gunfire six times and was found deceased.
Defense Attorney David Tarrell said there were many texts and phone calls from Carballo just before the shooting happened and felt threatened for himself and his family.
Following opening statements, the state called three to the witness stand, including the dispatcher who took the initial 911 call following the shooting.
Two Lexington police officers who initially arrived on scene were the others called to the stand. They described Rodriguez-Linares’ demeaner as calm and cooperated with their commands.
