The North Platte Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Julius Reed 2nd in connection with an assault and shooting investigation from the early morning hours of Aug. 5, 2026.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Aug. 5, 2026, officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of West 2nd Street, in North Platte, following a report of gunfire. Responding officers launched an investigation into reports of an assault and an exchange of gunfire in the area.
During the investigation, officers identified Reed as a person of interest involved in the assault and shooting. Reed allegedly assaulted a resident in the 2200 block W. 2nd St. before gunfire was exchanged in the street.
Reed is wanted for questioning for criminal offenses including attempted first-degree assault, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and third-degree assault.

The investigation into the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing. No additional information will be released at this time.
