PURDUM — The Purdum Volunteer Fire Department will open its doors to the community Saturday evening for a fundraiser featuring a free-will donation meal, live auction, beer garden and equipment displays.
The fundraiser and open house begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, in Purdum. Proceeds will support the volunteer fire department and its equipment needs.
Department representative Dave Masek said firefighters will have their trucks on display, giving residents a chance to see how previous community support has been put to use.
“We’re going to have all of our fire trucks there kind of on display to show the community what we’ve done with their previous help in the last few years,” Masek said.
The free-will donation meal will include beef and pork sandwiches, cheesy potatoes and a variety of side dishes.
A live auction will feature a wide range of donated items, including Milwaukee M18 tools, framed Charles M. Russell prints, leatherwork, 12 round bales of alfalfa, a water pump, pallets of salt, mineral and a 50-inch television.
Among the larger auction items are tickets for two rounds of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas this December. A limited embossed print from Seneca-area artist Jackie Severe will also be offered.
Masek said additional auction donations were continuing to arrive as of Tuesday.
The fundraiser will also include a raffle for a limited-edition Ruger .45-caliber 1911-style handgun. Raffle tickets are $20 each and will be available during Saturday’s event. The department expects to hold the drawing around 8 p.m.
A beer garden will also be available during the fundraiser.
