Lincoln-Former Husker running back Damon Benning has been hired as the new Director of Football player development for the Huskers. He takes over for Gus Felder who had left Nebraska to become an athletic director at a high school in Georgia. For the last several years Benning had been the analyst on the Husker sports network football broadcasts and has worked for Hurrdat Sports as a co-host of the their morning show.
According to published reports he will no longer be on the radio after taking this new position with the University. Benning is the father of Husker safety Caleb Benning. As a player Benning, was a Four-year letter winner for the Huskers at I-back and was the 1996 Orange Bowl MVP. He was a part of two national championship teams with the Huskers.
