Anthony Colandrea has been named the starting quarterback for the Huskers, head coach Matt Rhule announced Saturday. The UNLV transfer was 275/417 in the pocket last year for 3,459 yards, 23 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also added 649 yards on the ground with 10 touchdowns.
The Runnin Rebels went 10-4 last season, falling to Boise State in the Mountain West title game and appearing in the Scooters Coffee Frisco Bowl.
The battle for the backup role continues between TJ Lateef and Daniel Kaelin.
The Husker football season starts on September 5, when the Huskers open up against Ohio. Kickoff is set for 11AM, and can be heard across the state on Nebraska Rural Radio Network stations.
