North Platte is gearing up for a weekend of championship barbecue as the Sandhills Smoke Show returns September 25th and 26th at Pals Brewing Company. The Kansas City Barbeque Society Master Series event will bring pitmasters, barbecue fans and spectators from across the region to compete and enjoy live entertainment. Organizers say the competition will highlight North Platte’s hospitality while offering a high-quality event for competitors and visitors alike. Friday’s activities include a one-meat rib contest, a concert by Brady James, and a performance by country duo Love and Theft.
The main KCBS Master Series competition takes place Saturday, September 26th, with categories including chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. Turn-ins begin with the People’s Choice category at 11:30 a.m., followed by official judging throughout the afternoon. The public will also have an opportunity to purchase barbecue plates from noon until 4 p.m. before final awards are announced at 4 o’clock. Organizers say the event will be held rain or shine and are inviting barbecue enthusiasts from across the country to North Platte for a weekend of food, music and friendly competition.
