LINCOLN, Neb. — Former state senator Brett Lindstrom has filed with the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office to appear on the November 3 ballot as the gubernatorial candidate for the America First Party. The filing comes after the Nebraska Supreme Court last week unanimously rejected a legal challenge to the party’s recognition, allowing it to move forward as a political party in the state. The America First Party formally nominated Lindstrom during its convention on Saturday.
Lindstrom, an Omaha resident who represented District 18 in the Nebraska Legislature from 2015 to 2023, said he is grateful to receive the party’s nomination. He will be joined on the ticket by lieutenant governor candidate Mike Picard of Omaha. According to the campaign, its platform is based on what it calls the “Nebraska Doctrine,” a framework focused on fiscal policy and economic growth.
