Residents of Cozad may notice a chlorine taste or odor in their tap water beginning this week as the city starts a temporary chlorination program for its municipal water system. City officials say the precautionary measure follows significant upgrades to the community’s water system and is not being mandated by regulators.
According to the City of Cozad Water Department, the chlorination program could remain in place for up to 30 days while officials continue monitoring the system and collecting water samples. City leaders emphasized that the water remains safe to use and that the temporary treatment is being implemented to help protect the quality of the municipal water supply. Additional updates will be provided if needed.
Residents with questions are encouraged to contact the City of Cozad Water Department. The public notice was issued by Troy Franzen, the city’s Water and Sewer Commissioner
