Elwood, Neb. — Residents across the Elwood area are being encouraged to support local nonprofits and community organizations through this year’s Give Big Elwood campaign on November 12.
The annual fundraising effort, held in partnership with communities across the region, is entering its seventh year. This year’s theme, “Small Acts, Big Change,” is designed to remind donors that even modest contributions can make a meaningful difference.
Elwood Area Foundation Executive Director Melissa Vinzant said organizers are placing a greater emphasis on early giving this year. She said that allows foundation staff more time to process donations and distribute funds to participating organizations before the busy holiday season…
Melissa Vinzant: “Our goal is to get these funds back out to the causes before the holiday season hits because it seems like that’s when a lot of these groups really need those funds.”
Vinzant said Give Big Elwood is about more than raising money. She said one of the campaign’s primary goals is increasing awareness of the many organizations serving the community, including food assistance, youth programs and other charitable causes…
Melissa Vinzant: “The core mission is raising awareness of all of these groups. There’s so many different important groups that give back, and these are really important groups that a lot of people might not know about.”
The campaign has grown significantly since it began. Vinzant said Give Big Elwood started with 15 participating organizations and has expanded to 36 this year, reflecting growing community involvement and support. She said the campaign’s theme underscores the idea that every gift matters…
Melissa Vinzant: “Some people feel like they can’t participate because they can’t make a big donation, but that’s not at all the case. Every little bit helps, and when we all work together, we have a big impact.”
Donors can learn more about participating organizations and make contributions by visiting Give Big Lexington and selecting the Elwood community page.
