KEARNEY — A 29-year-old Kearney man facing multiple felony drug charges will move forward in Buffalo County District Court following a narcotics investigation involving state and local authorities.
Austin Dean is charged with distribution of a controlled substance within a school zone involving marijuana, a Class II felony, along with distribution of lysergic acid (LSD), a Class IIA felony.
Dean waived his preliminary hearing, allowing the case to be bound over to district court. He is scheduled to be arraigned April 3 at 9 a.m.
The investigation was led by the Nebraska State Patrol, with assistance from the Kearney Police Department and the TRIDENT Drug Task Force.
According to authorities, investigators first executed a search warrant at a storage unit, where they recovered approximately 25 pounds of marijuana, 1,699 THC vape cartridges, 879 grams of THC wax, 4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and five firearms.
A subsequent arrest warrant was issued, and a second search was carried out at Dean’s residence on West 22nd Street in Kearney. Officers took Dean into custody at the home and reported finding an additional 787 grams of marijuana, 105 THC vape cartridges, 269 dosage units of LSD, and more psilocybin mushroom products.
Dean was booked into the Buffalo County Jail as the case proceeds.
