Nebraska college rodeo teams continue to stack results as the spring season moves forward.
In the Great Plains Region, Mid-Plains Community College finished second in both the men’s and women’s team standings. Southeast Community College placed third on the men’s side, while the University of Nebraska-Lincoln came in seventh.
Koy McAllister of Mid-Plains claimed the saddle bronc riding title, and Southeast Community College’s Clayton Elliott led a strong showing in steer wrestling with a second-place finish. Teammates Dawson Doggett and Cale Buss followed in third and fourth.
On the women’s side, Samantha Gerlach of Mid-Plains placed second in barrel racing, and Nebraska-Lincoln’s Carli Hawkins finished second in goat tying.
In the Central Rocky Mountain Region at Chadron State College, the Eagles placed third in the men’s team standings and tied for third and fourth on the women’s side. Seth Glass captured the tie-down roping title and earned the men’s all-around honors.
The Great Plains Region has a bye week ahead, while Chadron State travels to Colorado State for its next stop. The Nebraska Junior High Rodeo Association opens its spring season this weekend in Central City.
