NORTH PLATTE — Drivers traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 near North Platte should expect delays and use caution as a road construction project is set to begin Tuesday, April 7, weather permitting.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation says Western Engineering Company of Harlan, Iowa, will handle the project. Work will stretch from just west of the I-80 and Highway 83 interchange to near mile marker 186.
The project will involve asphalt resurfacing, which will bring temporary lane closures and a 12-foot width restriction through the work zone.
Construction is expected to continue through June 2026.
Motorists are urged to slow down in work zones, stay alert, buckle up, and avoid distractions while driving.
