LEXINGTON, NE – Dawson and Gosper County CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, has a Night Out with CASA event scheduled for Thursday, April 16th at Central Community College in Lexington from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
This even includes food at 5 pm, a professional panel at 6 pm, and guest speaker at 7 pm.
The speaker for this event is Mike Donahue, an author, youth pastor, spiritual life director, school assembly speaker, and a military veteran. Donahue is also the founder and director of Value-Up, a Nebraska based, nationally recognized organization focused on promoting positive school culture and student well-being.
Donahue says when he decided to becoming a school assembly speaker, he was working in Denver, Colorado when two teenagers from his youth church group were killed in the Columbine High School massacre back in April of 1999.
Donahue’s interest is not only helping teens understand how valuable their life is but also help parents rebuild trust with their teens and create a climate where their children feel safe being real.
Donahue says his presentation at Night Out with CASA will be geared to parents who have troubles getting their teens to open up about things because telling a parent how they feel may come with an emotional price tag.
Donahue says he will offer real-life insight and practical strategies to parents for rebuilding trust, fostering honest dialogue, and understanding the hidden pressures teenagers face.
Teachers are also welcome to this Night Out with CASA as it counts towards CEU Credits.
