An Overton couple sentenced in 2019 for cruelty to animals after livestock were found dead on their property has been cited after authorities say they own livestock when they shouldn’t have.
Dawson County Court records say Eugene and Diane Wempen, both age 67, were cited for Owning or Possessing Livestock Animals in Violation of Court Order.
Court records say the Wempens were convicted and sentenced to probation and jail time for Abandonment or Cruel Neglect of Livestock Animals in 2019.
As part of their sentencing, the couple were not allowed to own livestock for 15 years after their sentencing.
Court records say the couple were arraigned on the charges on Tuesday, and will appear back in court on April 28th at 9:30 a.m. for an Entry of Plea hearing.
