Lexington public schools has hired Lexington native Jose Lara as the new head coach of the Minutemaid wrestling program. Lara is a 2008 graduate of Lexington and earned his education degree from UNK in 2013. He has been a grade school teacher in the Lexington school system since that time. Lara has coached multiple sports at the Lexington middle school during his time in education, serving as the head middle school wrestling coach for both the girls and the boys.
He also was an assistant with the varsity program for nine seasons. He replaces Art Banderas who stepped down from the position following the end of the season. Coach Lara is married to Jessica who is a nurse in the Lexington school system and they have three children, (Liliana,(7), Esmeralda (5) and Nico (3).
