The Nebraska Soybean Board will host a public event Tuesday aimed at connecting consumers with how soybeans are grown and used in everyday life.
The event, called “Spill the Beans,” will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at Raising Nebraska and is free and open to the public.
“It’ll be a really fun consumer engagement event,” said Sophia Svanda, education and communications coordinator for the Nebraska Soybean Board. “We’re going to have food, we’re going to be able to engage with consumers about where and how their food is grown and just learn a lot about soybeans.”
Svanda said the event will include a pulled pork meal, games and giveaways, including soy-based products.
“We’re really hoping to engage local youth and just anyone engaged in the community,” she said.
The event coincides with Soy Foods Month and is designed to highlight the role soybeans play in food production and daily life.
“We’re really trying to steer the conversation about food and agriculture and how food is grown and how it connects to your everyday life,” Svanda said.
