CUSTER COUNTY — With the first-half real estate and personal property tax deadline approaching on April 30, 2026, the Custer County Treasurer’s Office is reminding residents of available payment options and important deadlines.
Tax payments may be made in person at the Treasurer’s Office, by mail, or by using the courthouse drop boxes.
For payments sent by mail, envelopes must be postmarked on or before Thursday, April 30, 2026, to avoid interest charges. Officials recommend having your local post office manually stamp the envelope to ensure the postmark reflects the date it was received by USPS. This service is free and can help prevent late penalties.
Online payments are also available through the county’s GWorks site at https://custer.gworks.com/. Payments can be made using a name, parcel number, or address. Residents are encouraged to verify all parcel information before submitting payment.
The online system includes processing fees through Nebraska.gov. An e-check option is available for a flat $3.00 fee, while card payments carry a 2.49% fee. To minimize fees, users should ensure all parcels are added to their cart before completing the transaction.
Two drop box options are available for added convenience. An exterior drop box is located on the west side of the courthouse and is accessible at all hours. An additional drop box is located inside the Treasurer’s Office entrance and is available during regular business hours. Both drop boxes are checked throughout the business day.
The Custer County Treasurer’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The courthouse will be closed Friday, April 24, in observance of Arbor Day.
