OVERTON — Area programs were well represented at the Overton Track Invitational, with South Loup and Twin Loup leading the way across multiple events, while Ansley/Litchfield and Sumner-Eddyville-Miller (SEM) also posted solid individual performances.
South Loup delivered one of the most complete team efforts of the day, highlighted by distance standout Walter Bierman, who swept the 400 and 800 meters, including a personal-best 2:10.86 in the 800. The Red Raiders also dominated the distance relays, winning the 4×400 and 4×800, and added a runner-up finish in the 4×100 relay. Elijah Cool added another win in the 1600 meters, reinforcing South Loup’s strength in the distance events.
Twin Loup matched that success with key wins in both individual and relay events. Emmet Grint led the Wolves, capturing titles in the 110 and 300 hurdles, while also running on the winning 4×100 relay team. Twin Loup added a second-place finish in the 4×400 relay, and saw strong showings in the field events, including a shot put win from Blake Bottorf and a runner-up finish from Oran Grint in the long jump.
Ansley/Litchfield showed depth throughout the meet, placing multiple athletes in sprint, distance, and field events. Adrian Nienaber and Michael Corliss contributed in the sprints and 400, while Owen Brott and Karson Moore turned in consistent performances in the jumps and throws. The Spartans also placed fourth in both the 4×400 and 4×800 relays, highlighting balanced team production.
For Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, individual efforts stood out. On the boys side, Dylanger Schledewitz recorded a personal-best in the 400 and competed in both throwing events. On the girls side, SEM was led by Taryn Arbuthnot, who won the 200 meters and added victories in both the long jump and high jump, continuing her strong season. Kyler Jones also added a runner-up finish in girls shot put.
On the girls side overall, South Loup again showed strong depth, winning all three relays, the 4×100, 4×400, and 4×800, while adding multiple top finishes in sprints, hurdles, and throws. Twin Loup and Ansley/Litchfield contributed key placings in relays and middle-distance events to round out the area performances.
The meet provided a full slate of competition, with area teams continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.
