A Grand Island woman has been found guilty in the death of a 2-month old boy following a bench trial.
Hall County District Court records say 29-year-old Bianca Rivera Lima was convicted of Child Abuse Resulting in Death.
An arrest affidavit says on April 22nd of 2024, Grand Island Police Officers responded to a 2-month-old child not breathing.
Authorities say the boy was in the care of Rivera Lima’s daycare while the parents were working.
The infant was taken to Children’s Hospital in Omaha, where he had extreme bleeding around the brain and retinal hemorrhaging.
The affidavit says medical professionals at the hospital reported the injuries were consistent with severe shaking and/or “slamming” and believe the injuries were intentional.
Authorities say Rivera Lima was the only adult with the child at the time, and had delayed calling 911 for an unknown reason.
The child later passed away due to his injuries.
Court records say a bench trial was held from April 14th through April 17th of this year, before the court found her guilty of the charge.
Rivera Lima faces life in prison when she at her sentencing, which is scheduled for June 29th at 10:30 a.m.
