There appears to be movement on at least some of the Tyson beef plant property in Lexington. This Tuesday’s Lexington City Council agenda includes an item reading:
“Council to consider authorizing the City Manager to sign agreements with Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. for the acquisition of property and railway access”.
No further details were listed with the agenda item, including areas of the property that might be included.
The Tyson Foods plant in Lexington officially closed on January 20, 2026 after 35 years at that location in Lexington. Some employees have remained on board until the end of July, “to perform duties related to the plant closure”.
The Lexington City Council will meet at 5:30pm Tuesday April 28, 2026 in the City Council Chamber.
